Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 May 2026

We take your privacy seriously. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep this short and in plain English on purpose.

Who we are

Butcher Ben is operated from Telfit Farm, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom. When this policy says “we” or “us”, it means Butcher Ben.

If you have a question about your data, email hello@butcherben.co.uk and we will reply within five working days.

What we collect

Account details you give us when you sign in or create an account — your email address, and optionally your name and cooking preferences.

Order details if you place an order — your delivery address, contact phone number, and the items in your box.

Basic technical information your browser sends automatically — IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit on our site. We use this to keep the site working and to spot abuse.

Why we use it

To sign you in securely using one-time email links.

To send you the order, delivery, and account emails you would expect.

To send you our newsletter only if you have asked for it. You can opt out in one click from any email.

To improve the site and make sure it stays fast and reliable.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data, ever.

We share the minimum necessary with the suppliers who help us run the service — our email provider, our payment processor, and our delivery courier. Each one is bound by a contract that protects your data.

How long we keep it

Account data: for as long as your account is open, plus seven years for accounting records once it closes.

Order data: seven years, to meet UK accounting and consumer law requirements.

Newsletter data: until you opt out.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop using it for marketing. Email hello@butcherben.co.uk and we will help.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk if you are not happy with how we have handled your data.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to remember what is in your basket. We do not use advertising cookies.
